Meet the Founder

Abdiel L. Franco is a husband, father, LEGO® enthusiast, and computer engineer with over 15 years of experience in the technology field. He holds a master’s degree in Information and Communications Technology from the University of Denver.

As both an engineer and a parent, Abdiel believes that learning should be hands-on, engaging, and meaningful—especially when it comes to technology.

The Challenge

In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and virtual reality, Abdiel wanted children—including his own—to have more than just exposure to technology. He wanted them to understand it, build it, and feel confident using it.

By combining his passion for engineering and his love of LEGO®, he founded Bricks & STEAM Academy to help children develop problem-solving skills, teamwork, and creative thinking—while having fun and learning how technology works from the inside out.

The Academy

Bricks & STEAM Academy follows a curriculum developed by LEGO® Education and offers one-hour weekly classes for students in second through eighth grade.

Lessons are hands-on, project-based, and intentionally small—only eight students per session—so every child receives personalized guidance, encouragement, and support in a collaborative learning environment.
